This is just one of hundreds of shrines dotted around Yosano. One of the pleasures of Yosano is continually discovering new shrines in the most unlikely of locations - hidden between houses, or clinging to the side of mountains. Furthermore, they are almost always empty, and as such offer the opportunity to take a moment to pause, breathe in the pure mountain air, and reflect. (Or, indeed, toss a coin in the bucket and offer up a prayer). Whether or not you follow Shintoism, these shrines are a space to spend a few minutes listening to the rustling of the trees or, if you’re lucky, the tune of songbirds. There are few things more calming.
